If any links don’t work…

If you are browsing the site and find a link that is broken, be sure and let me know (just leave a comment) and I will attempt to rectify the issue. Over the past few days I came under a little scrutiny from my webhosting provider to remove some media content (mostly streaming MP3s) from the server. I have performed the cleanup (and am now contemplating a move to a new hosting provider), but there may be some broken links around the site. Let me know and I’ll get right on it.

Also, if you have recommendations for other shared hosting providers that are reasonably priced, please let me know!

If, for some reason, you stop by looking for the friendly faces at digivation, only to find an error page, never fear, we won’t be gone for long. I’m simply trying to straighten out some small issues with my hosting provider. I’m pretty sure a peaceful resolution will be found and everything will continue as normal.

Some frequent visitors may remember a few articles written last summer involving the ranking of digivation.net against a few search terms. One of specific interest to myself is a google search for my name, Matthew Smith.

It’s been a long time since I last checked, but on a whim I googled myself and to my astonishment, I’ve cracked the first page! Digivation.net is now the #10 result on Google. It’s the bottom of the page, but hey – it’s still the first page. I’ve come a long way from the middle of page 5 or 6.

Edit: I fell to #12. Oh well

Upgraded to WordPress 2.5

I just finished upgrading to the newest version of WordPress. So far, I must say that the administration back-end has received a fantastic overhaul and I’m enjoying the new features so far.

I will soon update the theme to take advantage of the new features, but until then I can’t really comment on the coding aspects (but I know they’re sound). Anyway, I’d highly recommend updating if you use WordPress.

I must also apologize to Chappie, because the editor has been “broken” since I upgraded WordPress to version 2.3. However, it’s fixed now and everything has been upgraded to the latest versions.

Chappie, if you have any problems let me know.

Now I’m off to write some real content.

Problem 1: When I returned to the computer, I had some fifteen “undeliverable emails” that appeared to be sent from some random @digivation.net email. After investigating the logs and poking around, it would seem some jerkoff is spoofing email addresses using my domain. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about it (read the article for background info).

Problem 2: All pages besides the homepage are returning 404 errors. Everything seemed to be working fine a couple of hours ago, so I’m not sure what happened. I was playing around with my .htaccess file earlier, so it’s possible I messed it up. This problem hasn’t been solved yet, but I’m working on it. You can browse the site by clicking on links, but most links you follow here from google or elsewhere will be broken until I repair redirects.

Update: It seems everything is fixed except for Gallery. I’ll try to have that back up later.

Final Update: Looks like everything is back to normal, more or less!

Getting Closer

In case you’re wondering, Chappie and I are still alive, despite reports of our recent demise. We’ve just been busy working on other things this week, and plan to return to regular blogging within the next couple of weeks.

The new theme is almost complete (it is now to the testing phase) and should be arriving any day now. As for our “big secret project,” that is still in the works and shall be unveiled soon. Of course it probably won’t excite you as much as I’m making it out to, but that’s ok.

So stay tuned, we’re still here!

August Goals

After successfully meeting the majority of our goals for July, we’re adjusting the focus slightly for August. This month, we’re going to focus on getting a redesign and the completion of a new project. Thus, for the beginning of the month, you will see fewer posts here. Don’t worry, we haven’t abandoned the site – we’re just busy working in the background.
